She was born February 16, 1915 to parents Charles and Elsa Kimmel in Mount Holy Oak, Illinois. She lived in Sheldon, Iowa as a child and had four older brothers, Dwight Kimmel, Kenneth Kimmel, Paul Kimmel, and Homer Kimmel.
Esther lived in Manhattan Beach, California, where she was a teacher at Mira Costa High School and Aviation High School. After retirement, she and her husband, Willard Paul Alexander, lived in Springville, CA, where she was very active in the Springville Community Club. Her last move was back to the Los Angeles area, to live in Santa Monica.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Willard Paul Alexander, and her son, Frank William Peterson. Her surviving family all are in the Los Angeles area: her daughter, Mrs. DeForeest B. Wright (Sharon); her step-daughter, Mrs. Bart Sidell (Carole); her granddaughters, Dana Sidell, Mrs. Joseph Bennett (Stacey), and Mrs. John Toolan (Kerry); her grandson, Brett Sidell and his wife Grace; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Bennett, Joey Bennett, and Parker Sidell.
