Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn, with the Rev. Lawrence Barron, pastor of the Brooklyn United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brooklyn.
The daughter of Thomas Lane and Louisa Jane Null Akery, she was born August 29, 1894, in Hancock, Mo. She was married to Al H. Avery on June 1, 1923, in Iowa City. She was graduated from Brooklyn High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Mrs. Avery taught school for 47 years in rural schools and in Brooklyn and Malcom.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn, and the Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Kraft of Brooklyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1955, three brothers and six sisters.
