Stanley Hollenbeck, age 88, of La Farge, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Veterans Hospital in Tomah.

He was born on May 6, 1922, in La Farge, the son of Sharron and Isa (Harris) Hollenbeck.

Stan served in the U.S. Army from September of 1942 until November of 1945

While in the Army, he was an Anti Aircraft Crew Chief under Patton fighting from Africa, Italy, and on into the Battle of the Bulge.

Stan was united in marriage to Marjorie Barlow in Viroqua.

He worked construction and spent many years farming cattle, mink, and tobacco.

Stan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a member of the La Farge VFW.

Stan is survived by his son, Steve (Norie) Hollenbeck of Montrose, Michigan and his grandchildren: Chad (Wendy) Hollenbeck of Eau Claire, Travis Hollenbeck of Washington, DC, and Jennifer (Frank) Fosdal of Edgerton.

He is further survived by 4 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Caragan, and Gabrik Hollenbeck, and Savannah Fosdal, as well as other relatives and friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents Sharron and Isa Hollenbeck, his wife Marjorie, and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the La Farge United Methodist Church, with Pastor Karen Bankes officiating.

Burial was held at the Bear Creek Cemetery, where Military Graveside Rites were accorded.

Friends called at the La Farge United Methodist Church on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 P.M.

The Seland - Huston Funeral Home of La Farge assisted the family with their arrangements.
