Abraham Blackburn, one of Chatham Township pioneer residents, passed away at his home on the 3rd concession at an early hour this morning. The late Mr. Blackburn was 77 years old. All his life he had spent on the same farm on the 3rd concession. He was one of the townships most prominent citizens, taking an active part in municipal affairs. He sat on the Township Council Board for several years. In religion, the late Mr. Blackburn was a Baptist. He was a strict Conservative all his life and took quite an active part in politics. He was in many ways a representative citizen of the township.

A family of one son and four daughters survive him. They are Harry Blackburn, living on the homestead; Mrs. Walter Holmes of Chatham Township amd Mrs. John Holmes of this city; Mrs. Byron French of Chatham township, and Mrs. Armand Pugh of Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his wife about seven years ago. One daughter is also dead, the late Mrs. Dr. Agar.
The late Mr. Blackburn had been ailing for about six weeks. Death was due to heart trouble. The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at two o'clock.
