Odena Ramsey Allen, 99, of Tulsa, quietly passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011, after a brief illness. She was born May 5, 1911, in Calhoun County, MS, to C. J. and Mittie Ramsey. "Dean" devoted her life to church and family. She served more than half her life as a member of East Side Christian Church Friendly Couples Class and a volunteer for Will Rogers Rotary Club. Additionally, she was employed building bomber planes during WWII. Up until her death, Dean represented The Broadmoor Retirement Community as reigning "Queen". She is remembered as an enviable cook, self-taught seamstress, and consummate caretaker. Those who celebrate Dean's life include close friends, neighbors, and surviving family members: daughter Charlene Miller, Tulsa; granddaughter Lynell Haggard and husband Jon of Kansas, with daughters Amanda, Cassidy, and Kyleigh; and grandson David Barnes and wife Lisa of Poteau with sons Justin and Jesse. Dean was preceded in death by husband Elwood Allen, greatgrandchild Jake, and 10 siblings. Visitation: Moore's Eastlawn Chapel, Friday, 5-7:00 pm, 1908 S Memorial. Service: East Side Christian Church, 1438 S. Indianapolis, Saturday, 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to East Side Christian Church. Interment: Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, OK. Under the direction of Moore's Eastlawn Chapel.
