Ron's strong belief in giving back to the community led him to work tirelessly for numerous charitable organizations. The Montrose Counseling Center, Omega House, and Christmas Songfest benefit were particularly close to his heart. Ron never met a stranger and was quick to reach out his hand to others. He was a good man.
Ron is survived by his partner of 22 years, Steve Smith; mother Ruby Jenson of Austin; brother Al Jenson of Houston; brother Gary Jenson and wife Carla of Austin; sister Carol Jenson and partner Dana Stripling of Austin; nephews Jared Jenson and wife Hillary, Justin Jenson, Ryan Jenson and wife Missy, Ian Jenson and niece Whitney Jenson; great-nephew Ben and great-niece Addison; and a large extended family who will miss him greatly. Ron was also blessed with a second family of many dear friends whom he cherished. Our sorrow at his loss is lessened by the memory of his quick smile, twinkling eyes, and contagious laugh.
A Celebration of Ron's life will be Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Bering Memorial United Methodist Church, 1440 Harold Street, Houston, Texas 77006. A visitation for friends and family will begin at 12:45 p.m., the service will occur at 2 p.m. with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bering Omega Community Services (www.beringomega.org) or to your favorite charity.
