CARRIE LEE HARVEY EASTERWOOD

Services for Carrie Lee Harvey Easterwood, 86, a former Dickson and Russett resident, were held Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Easterwood died Sunday at the Martan County Care Center in Elkhart, Kan., where she had been a resident for the past four years.

Mrs. Easterwood was born June 11, 1907, in Whitesboro, Tex. She was the oldest of nine children born to Lester L. and Etha Bradley Harvey.

She came to Oklahoma as a child when her family settled in the Post Oak community, south of Wilson.
She married L. W. “Boss” Easterwood on Jan. 19, 1925, and they made their home in Russett in 1934.

Mrs. Easterwood was a long-time member of the Russett Baptist Church and was also actively involved in 4-H Club work, home demonstration clubs and all school activities.

In 1971, the Easterwoods moved to their farm north of Dickson. During their retirement they sang gospel music at area events and nursing homes. Mr. Easterwood died March 10, 1993.

Six years ago she moved to Elkhart to be close to her family.

Her survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Lowell and Annabel Easterwood of Houston, Tex., Dale and Elizabeth Easterwood of Rolls, Kan., Wayne and Cadeen Easterwood of Tulsa, and Richard and Jane Easterwood of Houston, Tex., nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Easterwood is also survived by four brothers and four sisters, Floyd Harvey of Denton, Leonard “Doc” Harvey of West Covina, Calif., Ambrose “Hoss” Harvey of Wilson, Rowe Harvey of San Diego, Calif., Vannie Scott of Fullerton, Calif., Odessa Kirkland of Vega, Tex., Lorene Belcher of Grants Pass, Ore., and Marie Hughes of Shawnee.

Services were held at the Russett Baptist Church with Tom Frank and Ed Vernon officiating.

Burial was in the Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson, under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.

Serving as Pallbears were her grandsons Robert Wayne Easterwood, Eayne Easterwood, Jr. Lowell Easterwood, Jr., Bradford Lee Easterwood and grandsons-in-law Richard Barren, Duane Hunter, Jeff Mills and Dan Weaver.
