He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of late Matilda Price McCormick. He married Mary L. Bender May 30,1942, in Altoona.
Mr. Price was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, where he formerly served on church council and as an usher.
He retired from the disposal treatment plant of Hollidaysburg Borough in 1985 with 25 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for A.J. Stormer and Son Construction, Altoona.
Mr. Price was a 1940 graduate of Hollidaysburg Senior
High School.
He served in the U.S. Ariny during WWII as a private first class, Company B, 313th Infantry, 79th Division, in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart Medal.
Mr. Price was a life member of the Phoenix Volunteer Fire Company and the Williamsburg American Legion Post 456. He was past commander of Fort Fetter American Legion Post 516, member of the Duncansville VFW and former member of Catholic War Veterans, where he was a past commander and chapter commander.
He was a former member of three local senior citizens
groups.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years; two daughters: Shirley
A. Ingram and husband, Richard, of Hollidaysburg, and Mary Jane Hennaman of Altoona; four grandchildren: and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, William George; and a brother, Francis A. McCormick, who was killed in action during World War II.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday
at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg where a vigil service will be held and a firemen's service will be held at 7p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael
Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Father Clement G. Gardner. Committal, with military honors, at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Michael
Catholic Church.
