RITES TO BE MONDAY FOR MRS. ARMITAGE

A funeral services will be held Monday for Ada Dell Armitage, a resident of Lane County since her birth here 91 years ago.

Mrs. Armitage, who died Wednesday, was the widow of Frank Armitage —early Lane County resident, politician, former Eugene postmaster and donor of Armitage State Park. He died last February at the age of 96.

The Armitages resided for many years at 1390 High St., in Eugene. In recent years they lived at McKenzie Manor Nursing Home in Springfield.

The funeral service for Mrs. Armitage will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at England Funeral Home in Eugene. Interment will be at Gillespie Cemetery in the Willakenzie area.

Mrs. Armitage was born in Eugene July 3, 1877 and married Frank Armitage Feb. 15, 1899 in Eugene.

Survivors include two daughters—Mrs. Clarence Grant of San Francisco, Calif.; and Mrs. Roy E. Brown, Springfield; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters—Mira A. Calef and Ora T. Calef, both of Eugene, and Ida T. Slawson of [Lake] Oswego.

The Armitages were active for years in Lane County's development. For 18 years Frank Armitage ran the Eugene office of the State Employment Service, leaving that job to become postmaster. He was also a powerful figure in Democratic politics in Oregon.

A number of years ago the Armitage family donated 42 acres of land on the McKenzie River to the state for the park that bears his name. The site is near where Armitage's father had settled in 1848.
