Monroe was the son of Isaac Bailey "I.B." and Martha (Davis) Allen. He attended school at Iron Stob and Butler. He owned and operated Monroe Allen Lumber Grain Sales from 1949-1986 and a rancher and farmer. He married Venita (Whitten) on May 19, 1940 at Broken Bow, Ok, she preceded him in October 10, 1976. Monroe married Kathy (Murray) on August 19, 1978 at Stonewall, Ok. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Atoka First Baptist Church, a member of the Lions Club, and he served on the Board of Directors of the Atoka State Bank. Monroe was a member of the Atoka School Board, an avid sports fan of OU Sooners and Atoka Wampus Cats, and an avid FFA sponsor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Venita Whitten Allen; son, Jimmy Arnold Allen; parents; siblings, Carl and Edith Allen, Lester and Lucille Allen, Bill Allen, Bertha and Odie Yates, Ethel and Escar Phillips, Irene and Rufus Goff, Dessie and Ralph Moreland, Opal and Pete Rector, and Lucille Hooten Foreacre; mother in law, Ola Whitten; and son in law, Bill Elliott. Services will be February 18, 2011 at 10 am. at Atoka First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Green Meadows.
