This photogaph of the flight crew was provided by the family of SGT Ray Fairman, a short time after thier B-17 was shot down, near the villiage of Olne, Belgium on 10 January, 1945. The photograph appears to have been taken just a few monthes before (approx Sept. 1944) Although the name are known, I cannot match the names to the photo. If you can identify some individuals in this photograph, please contact Edward A. Mallang, at [email protected].

This Monument was erected November 2007 by the people of Saint-Hadelin / Olne, Belgium in memory of Sgt. Jay L. Adams whose B-17 crash landed near this location.
This from Samuel Lucas of Belgium;
"If a member(s) of Jay L. Adams's family got in touch with you for information about the accident of B-17 to Saint-Hadelin, I can, with no problem at all, supply him my information. It is Madam Courtois of Soumagne who took care of the realization of the monument under the request of the mayor of the village of Olne.

The cemetery possesses great military historic significance as it holds fallen Americans of two major efforts, one covering the U.S. First Army's drive in September 1944 through northern France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg into Germany, the second covering the Battle of the Bulge. It was from the temporary cemetery at Henri-Chapelle that the first shipments of remains of American war dead were returned to the U.S. for permanent burial.

Jay was originally interred at the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Rue du Mémorial Américain 159, 4852 Hombourg,Liège Belgium. GPS Coordinates: Latitude: 50.69659, Longitude: 5.89884, on January 12th, 1945.
On October 7th, 1948, his remains were transported by truck to the Port of Antwerp, Belgium, from where he was repatriated to the USA and arrived by rail at the Sentinel, OK. train station, on January 8, 1949 @2:30 pm.
He was immediately interred in the Sentinel Cemetery, Sentinel, Oklahoma, with a full military honors Service. His daughter Lois Janet Adams, was in attendance with her Grandparents, Harley E. Schlegel and Alice Mae Love.
Rev. C.N. Price, pastor, delivered a special memorial sermon for Jay, and W.F. Taylor, the district commander of the VFW and others, assisted as the Honor Guard.
