Peter is listed in the book History of the City of Toledo and Lucas County, OH, written in 1888. It indicates that he came to Ohio with his father in 1834. He married Ann Phillipps of IL in 1843 and they had a son John P. She died in 1847 and he then married her sister Nancy Ray. They had four children: Belding, R.C., Alice, & C.B. During the winter, Peter was a teacher and during the summer he worked masonry. He also farmed and was in the nursery business for 33 years. A notable achievement is that he helped to "move old Ottokee, the Indian Chief, from Maumee to Swanton Township" around the year 1838. He was also Justice of the Peace of Monclova Twp. for 30 years.
