THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 16, 2003: 'Mary Helen Thymian Wells, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital South. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Central Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Timothy Davenport-Herbst officiating. A private family interment will be held later in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Seattle, Wash. She attended schools there and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in music. Music was an integral part of her life, from singing on KIRO radio in Seattle to her years as an active member of her music club and church choir. On Feb. 20, 1943, she married Thomas Davis Wells Jr. The couple moved to Paris in 1945. She participated in Central Presbyterian Church activities and was a member of the Moderne Music Club, P.E.O. and the Paris Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 4, 1976 and by her eldest son, Tom Wells. Survivors include three children, Virginia Payne and husband, John, of Slidell, La., Paul Thymian Wells and wife, Lynn, of Paris and Susan Crumrine and husband, Jim, of Beeville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Rusty Wells of Paris; and a sister-in-law, Edith Wells of Paris. If desired, friends may contribute to the Central Presbyterian Church, the Paris Education Foundation, the Salvation Army or the charity of choice.'
