Mabel moved with her parents and siblings in 1896 to Kremlin, OK. Soon after, Mabel secured a position as a printer for an Enid paper, "The Wave". The paper was owned and edited by a Mr. Eisenberg. She was paid $3.00 per week. Mabel shared a bedroom with the daughter of a rooming house owner and helped with housekeeping in order to make her salary at the paper a livable wage.
Mabel was in the newspaper business all of her life. She owned "The Hennessey Clipper" for many years....a newspaper that was run by family from 1904- 2014.
Mabel never married and helped raise her sister, Julia's children. She had an absolute love of hats!
