Born in Jadowniki Mokre, Krakow, Poland (Galicia, Austria) , the daughter of Pawel (Paul) and Rosalia (Rose Gibes) Wiklanski.

Marriage records at Emmet Couty Clerk and the Petoskey Record, shows some Wiklanski's, who were born in Poland, having the surname WYKLAJRSKI.

This leads me to believe that the actual family surname started in Poland as WYKLAJRSKI. After immigrating to America, they changed it to Wiklanski which many Polish immigrants did because of the language barrier.

Records say she immigrated to the US in 1901 or 1902. Around the age of 24.

She and her sister Agatha were 1 of many sets of twins born in our Polish family.

Agnes's parent's remained in Jadowniki Mokre, Krakow, Poland (Galicia, Austria) and never came to the US as her father died in 1890. Her mother Rosalia Mathia Gibes-Wiklanski died in 1926.

After her marriage to Matthew in Chicago on 25 Nov 1902 at the St Joseph Church, they remained in Chicago until around 1916 when they moved and settled at Lark's Lake Michigan where their last child Paul was born.

Agnes was a member of the St Nicholas Church and is buried at the St Nicholas Cemetery in Lark's Lake.

Agnieska is my Great Grandmother.

I am using their Polish names to honor them and keep their heritage alive. Sadly, but once arriving in the US, many Polish Immigrants had changed the spelling of their names and surnames because of the language barrier. Very few, when first arriving and there after, could speak English. There are only a few left in our family who still speak Polish.

Information through a cousin in Poland has shown me records that Agnes had a child Mary born in Poland 1900. I did find a census showing a Mary born 1900 and is listed as Matthew and Agnes's daughter but have found no more information about her. Her birth record at the church in Poland does not list a father.
