NAMPA — Thomas Arthur Becher, 64, veteran telephone service employee, died Sunday afternoon in a Nampa hospital. Residence at the time of his death was at 1323 Roosevelt Street.
Mr. Becher was born Feb. 21, 1898, at Westgate, Iowa. He attended Concordia College at St. Paul, Minn., and then moved to Idaho in 1924 when he joined the telephone company. He worked in Twin Falls and Blackfoot. Since moving to the Nampa area in 1931 he has been associated with the telephone company here.
He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and held many church offices. He held membership in the Lutheran Layman's League, was past president of the Communication Workers of America and was a member of the Sawtooth Council of the Pioneers of the Telephone Company.
Becher was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Carmella Reidel and Dorlina Lacy.
Survivors are his wife, Juliana; a daughter, Mrs. Beth Hogan of Boise; two sisters, Mrs. Maria Lift of Jerome and Mrs. Henrietta Martens of Orange, Calif., and three brothers, Albert of Twin Falls, Henry of Orange, Calif., and Edmund of Spokane, Wash.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Shepherd Chapel. Interment will be in Kohlerlawn.
