Funeral services for Mr. J.D. Babb will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2004 in Glenmora Baptist Church with Reverends Paul Pearson, Charles Miller and Horace Hollis officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Glenmora under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Babb, 80, of Glenmora, entered eternal rest on Friday, September 24, 2004 in his residence with his family by his side.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and served 20 years as a deputy with the Rapides Parish Sheriff Department. He served as a deacon at Glenmora Baptist Church and was active with the Gideons, Shriners and Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Babb, A.V. Babb, and Dallas Babb, Jr. and two sisters, Evelyn Parker and Gayle Giles.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Charline M. Babb of Glenmora; one son, Jon David Babb of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Roxan B. Baden of Pineville; three sisters, Tommie Johnson, Honore Johnson and Sally Crooks, all of Glenmora; eight grandchildren, Tracy Goudeau, Stephanie Noth, Freddy Baden, Josh Baden, Brent Garrett, Meg Garrett, Gaines Garrett, and Jon David Babb, Jr.; and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Friends may call from 2:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2004 from 8:00 a.m. until departure for the church on Sunday, September 26, 2004 at Rush Funeral Home, Glenmora.
