At West Hazleton, aged 68 years, on October 29, 1918. Funeral private Friday at 2 p.m. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Benjamin Reese, aged 68, treasurer of the borough of West Hazleton and former Councilman, died at 10:36 this morning from complications. He came to Hazleton from Pottsville from where he moved to West Hazleton twenty-five years ago. He was a mine foreman years ago for the late Ario Pardee at Hazleton No. 1 and was engaged in the same capacity with the Cranberry Creek Coal Co. when he was stricken ill. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Red Men of this city. He is survived by his wife [second wife, Anna Reese] and the following children: Mrs. Phillip Schwartz of Pottsville; Benjamin Jr. of Cape Charles, VA; Mrs. Otto Volke, Everett, Ohio; Mrs. Joseph McCracken of Philadelphia and Amos Reese of Hazleton. The following step-children survive: Mrs. Edward Brill, of Philadelphia; William, George, Harry and Ida Krapf, of West Hazleton. One brother, John Reese, of West Hazleton, also survives.
