Lucy Williams was the oldest child of William Williams and Catherine "Kate" Redrick Williams. Her parents married in Knoxville in 1858. Most census records show her birth year as being closer to 1860 and the date of July 1860 was listed on the 1900 census. She married Andrew "Andy" Jackson Nelson and they had 5 children (per Knoxville City Birth Records). The children were Georgia Nelson Rawlings 1885- ?, Ernest G. Nelson 1887-1943, William Andrew Nelson 1889- ?, Katie Nelson 1882-1977 and Tilda Nelson 1890- ?. The children are still being researched. According to the 1900 census Lucy Williams Nelson was widowed, living in Knoxville, Tennessee with her children Ernest, William and Tilda Nelson. Also living in the same house were Lucy's mother Kate Williams and brother Willie Williams while her father William Williams was in the household of his daughter Mary Williams Capps. Lucy's daughters Georgia and Katie Nelson were in the Knoxville Industrial School for Girls. It appears that Lucy's husband, Andrew J.
