Joanna L. DAY married 24 MAY 1859 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to Franklin C[osby] JOHNSON [John H. Martin's "The Making of a Modern City: Columbus, Georgia, 1827 - 1865," (1874), vol. II, p. 115]. He evidently married first on 29 MAR 1843 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to Rebecca R. FOOTE [ibid., vol. I, p. 142].

"Mrs. F. C. JOHNSON DIES VERY SUDDENLY: DEATH THE RESULT OF APOPLECIC ATTACK. // Was Discharging Household Duties a Short Time Before She Sustained Fatal Attack // Mrs. Frank C. JOHNSON died quite suddenly yesterday morning at 10:30 o'clock at her home, four miles east of the city, on the Macon road. Death came very unexpectedly and was a great shock to her family and many friends. // Early in the morning Mrs. JOHNSON was slightly indisposed, but not enough to prevent her going about her usual light household duties. She afterwards felt worse, however, although she did not think she was seriously ill. Mrs. T. W. BATES, her daughter, went out to her home from the city, hearing she was sick. Mr. Cliff R. JOHNSON, one of her sons, learned that his mother was indisposed and telephoned out to her. She told him over the phone that she was not seriously sick. He suggested that a physician be sent out, but she did not think it was necessary. He decided, however, that it would be better for a physician to visit her, and accompanied with a doctor, who went to the scene, Mr. JOHNSON soon went out to the family residence himself, being uneasy as to his mother's condition. Her death occurred rather suddenly not long after he arrived. The physician said that it was the result of an apo[p]lectic attact. // The deceased was the widow of the late Frank C. JOHNSON. She was born in New York City April 2, 1838, and came to Muscogee county when about 16 years of age. She is survived by five sons and one daughter, as follows: // Mr. Edward C. JOHNSON, of Texas; Mr. H. J. JOHNSON, of Waycross; Mr. L. M. JOHNSON, of Chattanooga; Messrs. E. H. and Cliff R. JOHNSON, of this city, and Mrs. T. W. BATES, [also] of Columbus. One brother, Mr. Henry E. DAY, of Jacksonville, Fla., and one sister, Mrs. Fannie LANDON, of Savannah, survive her. // Mrs. JOHNSON was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a women [sic] of beautiful character, who was admired and beloved by a large circle of friends. // The funeral will take place at four o'clock this afternoon from the residence of Mr. T. W. BATES, in Wynnton. Dr. L. S. McELROY will conduct the services. The pallbearers will be Messrs. G. J. PEACOCK, O. P. POE, Lloyd BOWERS, Henry P. FORTSON, Harry COOPER, H. B. WOOLFOLK, H. H. WARNER and Sam H. MUNRO." [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Sunday, 09 JUL 1905, Part II, p. 13.]
