Jacob "Jack" Brummer was born in New York, one of at least 9 children of Hyman Brummer (1872-1922) and his wife Jennie (nee Swarz) Brummer (1871-1925). Known by friends and family as "Jack," he was among the favorites of his brothers and sisters, and he is mourned even to this day. He married Dorothy Brummer. They had one child, a son, Herman Ross Brummer (1928-2013), a Korean War veteran.
