Helen Lovell Mahone, age 87, of Barren Springs, VA passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015. She was born June 7, 1927 in Wythe County, daughter of the late William and Elva Jane Young Lovell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malon Richard “Mutt” Mahone; five sisters, Hazel Mabry, Nell Coble, Martha Crockett, Sally Gravley and Dot Poston; two brothers, Tom Lovell and Oakley Lovell. Helen was a member of Foster Falls United Methodist Church and is survived by two daughters, Deena and Doug Gunter of Max Meadows, VA, Nancy Faye Mahone and fiancé Mark Ramsey of Florida; four grandchildren, Sharlene and Jason Rice of Austinville, VA, Traci and Damon Carter of Pulaski, VA, April Ayers of Galax, VA and Cheyanne Blevins of Max Meadows, VA; two great grandchildren, Laken Blevins and Nevaeh Martin of Max Meadows, VA; sister, Esther “Sis” Mabry of Barren Springs, VA; special friend, Crecie Mabry of Barren Springs, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Foster Falls United Methodist Church with Pastor Richie Johnson and Reverend Gleasanna Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in Foster Falls Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour before service time at the church. Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, VA is serving the Mahone family.
