KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Douglas Letts died following a long illness on February 24 at Hope Care Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Born July 1, 1939, Doug, the son of Warren and Eleanor Letts, grew up in St. Joseph. He graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph in 1957, from Colorado College in Colorado Springs in 1961, and from the University of California-Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law in 1964.

He married Dana Rhodes Letts in 1964 and they had one child, Leslie Jeanne Letts in 1971. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1964 to 1973. In 1974, he became the full-time Music Director and Organist for Second Presbyterian Church and worked there until 2006.

Doug is survived by his daughter, Leslie Letts; his sister, Nicolee Woodring; nephews, Brian Woodring and Brady Woodring; grandniece, Hunter Woodring; and his dear friend, Dana Letts.

His memorial service will be held in Kansas City in the sanctuary of Second Presbyterian Church, 318 E. 55th Street, on Saturday, March 5, at 10 a.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrance donations be sent to Hope Care Center, 115 East 83rd Street, Kansas City, MO 64114; www.hopecarecenter.org.
