Lois was born in Tyringham, Berkshire Co. MA to Jacob and Ann Brown. She was the niece of Col. John Brown who died with 45 of his men at Stone Arabia during the Revolutionary war. Her grave is not marked with a stone but she and her son Elliot are the first burials in this cemetery. Her husband Joseph Bryan sold part of this lot#30 as shown in the land records -- " Vol 15, pg 209, 20 Mar 1811 -- Joseph Bryan of Bloomfield for $400.00 sold to Nathan Bryan, a parcel of land in Bloomfield (Now Mendon) off the SE corner of lot #30." "Forty feet square is reserved where the two graves of my former wife and son are". This "reserve" shows up in later deeds also. her husband Joseph died in 1812 and is probably buried in this cemetery also.
