Lakeview -- Wallace L. Gross, 76, R.R. 1, former assistant postmaster at the Sidney Post Office for 36 years, died yesterday at 9:40 a.m. at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton. He had been in failing health.

Born April 7, 1899, in Logan County, he was the son of Jacel and Pearl (Young) Gross.

On Sept. 4, 1949, he married the former Ruby Wildermuth. She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Wade (Doris) Sanner, West Carrollton, a son, Donald L., Canton, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harold (Helen) Bancroft, Troy, six grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

A sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Gross was a World Was I veteran. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion, Sherer Post No. 493, both of Jackson Center; a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Waynesfield; and VFW Post No. 8832, Roundhead.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Van Horn Funeral Home, Lakeview, with the Rev. Daniel E. Snider officiating. Burial will be in Pearl Cemetery, Swanders.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 9 p.m. VFW services will be held at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
