Nathern Sanders Guthrie, 71, of Charleston, MO, died September 7, 2010 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO.

Born Jan. 3, 1939 at Scottsboro, AL., to the late Thomas and Vester Guffey Guthrie, he had lived in Mississippi County since 1956 where he was employed in farming and construction work until his retirement. He served with the U.S. Army from 1962 -1967 and was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Charleston.

On July 15, 1966, he married Mary Alice Neal who preceded him in death on June 7, 2007.

One brother, Franklin Guthrie, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Nathan and Maya Guthrie and John Guthrie; three daughters and one daughter-in-law, Alice Neal, Manda Chessor, Lisa Chessor and Lisa Radica; two brothers, Tony Guthrie and James Guthrie; seven sisters, Ruby Jones, Sue Guthrie, Kathern Haley, Shirley Howton, Ruth Rhyne, Elizabeth Wilson and Patricia Day; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Becky Guthrie and Mary Louise Hampton.

Visitation was until time of services at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Burial followed in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie with Military graveside rites conducted by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
