Nathaniel Ashley married Jane Williams in Anson County, North Carolina. He was a British Loyalist during the Revolutionary War who moved to Florida and fought against the Patriot Army with the East Florida Rangers. He shows up in the 1783 Spanish census of Florida after the war. Then he moved to Georgia and as one of the 20 founders of St. Marys.
