COON, Thelma - Of Fostoria, age 82, passed away suddenly Thursday evening, August 14, 1997 at her home. Thelma Howard was born December 31, 1914 in Hardy, MI., the daughter of Asahel W. and Myrtle ( Rymer ) Howard. She moved to Fostoria in 1982, coming here from Flint. Thelma had been employed at Hurley Medical Center as an LPN for about 27 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Fostoria Baptist Church and of U.R.G.E. Local # 1 in Flint. She was married to Warren G. Coon on September 29, 1935. He predeceased her. Surviving are: two sons and Thier spouses, Warren D. and Shirley Coon of Fostoria, and Glen Louis and Rebecca Coon of Juddville, MI; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, Edith DesJardins living in Oregon, Ruth Stahl of St. Clair Shores, Leola Mazany of Alpena, Iva Webb of Pigeon, Dorothy Beals of Burton, and Ashel Damon Howard of Curran, MI; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 1 brother and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 19,1997 from the Fostoria Baptist Church with Rev. Rob Wall and Rev. Todd Harrison officiating and burial in the McCollum Lake Cemetery in Oscoda County. Friends may call at the Tiffen Funeral Home in Mayville from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM Monday and at the Church from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday. One of the first class to graduate from Fairview High School in 1935, Married September 29, 1935, to Warren G Coon of Flint,Michigan, raised two boys, and worked as nurse for Hurley Hospital in Flint,Michigan, Retired to Fostoria.Michigan, and traveled the world till her death
