Beckley, April 19. - Hailed for many years as Raleigh county's oldest citizen, John S Lilly, aged 103, died at his home near Odd last Saturday. He had been on the decline for the past two years, ever since he received the first stroke of paralysis. A second stroke Saturday was too much for his waning strength and he passed away.
The record of Mr Lilly's birth was destroyed during the Civil war, but he reckoned his age at 103, and he is believed to have been the oldest resident of the county.
He is survived by one son, Pleasant Lilly of Odd, and one daughter Mrs J C Lilly, of the same community. He was widely connected with numerous families of that name in this county.
