Emma Borchardt UNDERWOOD -- Emma Borchardt, 81, Underwood, died Wednesday at an Underwood nursing home. Her funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Underwood, with burial in the Underwood Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 18, 1902, at rural Donnybrook, a daughter of Herman and Ida Schwede. She came to Underwood as a young girl to seek employment. She married Theodore Borchardt, June 14, 1928 at Donnybrook. They lived at Underwood and later at Sioux City, Iowa, and Seattle. In 1966 they moved to Minot where he worked at a motor repair shop, returning in 1969 to Underwood, He died Oct. 11, 1983. She had been a resident of Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood for the past week.
Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Walter (Ella) Derheim, Bismarck, Mrs. Torrence (Alice) Stitt, Beloit, WI.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Cole, Sun City, Calif.; brothers, Herman, Arcade.
