She was born in Ireland and came to this country with her mother (and possibly father, though it is believed he died in Ireland), about 1852. Her siblings were Ellen Clune Fitzgerald, Thomas Clune, Mary Clune and Monsignor Michael Clune. She married Newton S. Bowne and had a daughter, Mary Ellen Bowne Milligan.
