Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 19 at the Joyce Funeral Home, Unadilla, with the Rev. Leighton Pitkin, pastor of the Unadilla Methodist Church, officiating.
Memorial services will be conducted Monday evening at 8 by the Unadilla Freedom Chapter of the Eastern Star No. 1790.
Mrs. Newell was born in Millstone, Pa., on April 13, 1892, the daughter of Frazier and Flora Frompton Stone. She married Theodore Newell in Elkin, W. Va. on Nov. 4, 1907. He died in 1967.
She was a lifetime member of the Easter Star at Oswegatchie, the Rebecca Lodge, Fine, and the White Shrine in Watertown.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Irene Levoy of Ocala, Fla., and Mrs. Hazel Sullivan of Unadilla; two sons, Wilber Newell of Oneonta and Edwin Newell of Oneonta; one sister, Edna Anderson of Texas City, Tex.; three brothers, George Stone of Ocala, Fla., Harry Stone of Ocala, Fla., and James Stone of Morgantown, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Joyce Funeral Home at their convenience, where the family will be in attendance Monday Evening.
