He was the husband of Ann Belt Brashears. His birth is registered at St. Barnabas Protestant Episcopal Church in Queen Anne's Parish, Prince George's County, Maryland. He was the son of Samuel and Ann Jones Brashears. Bazil's wifw Ann, was the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth Middleton Brashears.Bazil's burial place is unknown at this time. He probably died after 1790, in South Carolina, when he would have been 76 years of age. He lived in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. There are many deed records to verify this and he was bankrupt by May of 1763.
Children of Bazil and Ann Belt Brashears are:
1. Middleton Brashear, born circa 1732/1733. Identified as one the sons of Bazil (Basil) Brashear in the will of Middleton Belt, brother of Anne (Belt) Brashears, and in North Carolina deeds. He lived in Laurens County, SC in Sep. 23, 1767, where he and his sister Henrietta Prather lived for a while. On Oct. 6, 1776, Middleton enlisted as a private in the 3rd Regiment in Spartnaburg County, SC. He was taken prisoner, Dec. 28, 1778 ("Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the American Revolution", Bobby Gilmer Moss.)
2. Robert Brashears, born around 1734 and died in Knox Co, TN in 1810.
3. Henrietta Brashears Prather, born around 1740 and died 1767 in Enoree, Laurens Co., SC. She was the 4th wife of Phillip Prather.
