Early Angels Camp Success Story...from laboring in a mine to owning and running a boardinghouse.

In 1906, Attilio Giansetto immigrated from Borgofranco Torino, Italty to the US to Melones.

1910 census listed him as a laborer in a gold mine (possibly for the Melones Mining Co in Melones, as noted on his WWI Draft Card application.) He was already taking in boarders.

By 1930 Census, he was owner and proprietor of a boardinghouse in Angels Camp with 11 boarders, 10 of which were from Italy working as laborers on the highway.

Although the census states his wife, Martina, did not have a job, undoubtedly she and the children were kept pretty busy.

According to the 1920 and 1930 census, Attilio and Martina had two daughters Elsie (Parente) and Angeline (Elevi) and one son Louis.

Louis and Angeline are both buried in the Altaville Catholic Cemetery. Louis in the family plot and Angeline (with her husband) close by in Sec A4 - Plot 57

There was also a "stepson" listed, Viginio Allamano who is possibly Gege Allamanno, also buried in Altaville Catholic Cemetery (Sec A4 - Plot 56).
