MOTHER OF ONE OF MY CHILDHOOD FRIENDS

SANFORD – Judy Blackman Terry, 64, met her Heavenly Father peacefully Tuesday (8/29/06) in the early morning after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was the youngest daughter of 10 children, born to John William and Lena A m m o n s Blackman on Aug. 1, 1942.

Judy was an inspiration to all who knew her and touched the lives of everyone who was blessed to be a part of her life.

Judy was a loving wife to her husband, Audney, who together celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on Aug. 8. She was also the most compassionate, caring and loving mother to her three daughters and one son. She was the caregiver and nurturer to her three granddaughters, who thought the world of their "Me-Maw"

Judy was very devoted to her Christian faith and enjoyed sharing her love and beliefs with every family member, friend and stranger she met. She was a longtime active member of the Sharing and Caring Sunday School Class. She dearly loved her brothers and sisters in Christ, and was a woman who truly believed in the power of prayer. Judy's only son, Audney Roger Terry Jr., who passed away on Feb. 6, 2006, rejoiced and reunited with his mother in Heaven. She was also preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.

Judy is survived by her devoted husband, Audney Roger Terry Sr., and her three daughters, Brenda Terry Hardee and husband Butch of Asheboro, Barbara Terry Venable and husband Marty and Cantina Terry Lucas and husband Benjamin, both of Sanford. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Ashley Gail Terry of New Jersey; Addison Terry Venable and Macie Leigh Lucas, both of Sanford; two grandsons, Brad Hardee of Badin Lake and Aaron Hardee of Asheboro; one great-granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Hardee of Asheboro; a special niece, Stacy Blackman of Sanford; sisters, Annette Blackman Loflin of Ramseur and Christine West Culbreth of Sanford; and one brother, Ronnie Blackman of Lillington.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lemon Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Capehart and the Rev. Jim Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
