Lavern Foyt Miller, 78, of Austin, Texas, passed away on March 1, 2011 with her daughters by her side.

She was born on April 19, 1932 in Fayetteville, Texas to Rudolph and Lillie Foyt. Lavern married her high school sweetheart and soul mate, Fred Miller, on November 10, 1951. They were together for nearly 50 years in a marriage that most could only dream about.

Their lives began in San Marcos, TX while Fred finished college and then moved to Austin, TX in 1954 where they raised their family. Lavern found joy in selling Avon and working as a secretary for Nash Phillip Copus for seventeen years, however she was happiest when surrounded by her family.

Lavern will be remembered most for the deep love she had for her family and friends, her witty sense of humor, timeless beauty and undeniable faith in the Catholic Church. From her numerous volunteering, selfless acts of kindness and immense pride she had for her grandchildren, Lavern was a lady full of life and love. She was the kind of person you met once and never forgot.

Lavern is survived by her daughters, Karen Hale and her husband Benjamin Delawyer, Cherie Hanson and her husband Tony Hanson; granddaughter, Laura Hanson; grandson, John Hanson; daughter-in-law, Sarah Miller; granddaughters, Megan and Erin Miller; sister, Jean Doyle and her husband Pat Doyle; brother-in-law, A.C. Miller and his wife Lucille Miller; sister-in-law, Vernell Foyt; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

Lavern was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Miller; son, Roger Miller; parents, Rudolph and Lillie Foyt of LaGrange, TX; brothers, Leroy and wife Hazel Foyt and Rudy Foyt; father and mother-in-law, Dr. Arthur Charles and Sadie Miller of Carmine, TX.

Visitation and recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave., from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, March 7, 2011, at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 126 W. Oltorf, Austin, TX with Reverend Michael Couhig, C.S.C. as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Park in Oak Hill.
