Benjamin C. Allman, 85, of Rockport, passed away March 21, 2011, at Eagle Pointe.

He was born March 10, 1926, in Rockport, a son of the late Basil and Chloe Allman. He lived his whole life on Gates Ridge in Wood County and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII serving aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Santee. He worked at Viscose until he went to farming full time. He was a member of the Gates Ridge Church, an avid hunter and loved to fish on the Elk River.

He is survived by his five children, Norma (Richard) Terrell, Carol Sue (Roger) Heddleson, Bill Allman, Cecil (Rose) Allman and David (Judith) Allman; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers; and four sisters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Edith (Burton) Allman; one daughter-in-law, Pamela Allman; three brothers; and two sisters.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Eagle Pointe.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
