Mervin Perry
Mervin "Merv" C. Perry passed away peacefully on March 15, 2011 with his family by his side.

Born on Oct.18, 1932 in Vernal, Utah to Clive and Eliza Perry. He spent his life living between his home town of Vernal, Utah and various cities within San Diego County.

He married his one and only love, Mary "Kate" Bauer on May 19, 1951. They were married at only 18 years old by the justice of the Peace in Yuma, Ariz. They shared a lifetime of love and laughter together until her passing in 1997.

They had two daughters together, Karen and Kathy. He loved his daughters very much and nothing brought him more joy than to be there for them whenever they needed him.

As a great father and provider for his family, he took pride in his occupation as a carpenter. A man who was an artist with the tools of his trade worked in all facets of the home building industry and was a master craftsman with all he built.

He enjoyed the freedoms of working outside and putting in an honest day's work. He was truly a model man for many to admire and follow with how he lived his life.

His other true passion in life was his enjoyment of the outdoors. "God's Country," as he often called it, was anywhere he could hunt pheasant with his beloved bird dog, chase mule deer with his trusty rifle, or cast a line at some unsuspecting trout. He passed on the love of the outdoors to many and always encouraged those around him to enjoy God's Country.

He enjoyed spending quality time with his grandson Kyle whenever he could, and they spent many days together sitting in a boat, walking along a river edge or hiking the hills looking for deer. He leaves behind a lifetime of great memories with many friends and family.

Those who knew him could always count on him for help, or some good natured conversation that could lighten anyone's mood. Near the end of his life nothing could make him smile more than the enjoyment of his great grandchildren Kaleb and Taylor. His love and admiration of these kids would often leave him speechless.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clive and Eliza Perry, his wife Kate Perry, his daughter Karen Perry and his sisters Doris Clary and Reva Endicott.

He is survived by his daughter Kathy Patterson, his grandson Kyle Patterson, and his great grandchildren Kaleb "Mervin" Patterson and Tayloy "Kate" Patterson.

Those who knew and loved him, both admired and cherished all their time with him. There will never be another man who so honorably upheld his dignity and class to the very end.

Heroes never truly die, they just become legends living within our minds and hearts on forever.

Services were held at the Garden chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary 4300 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113 on Saturday March 19
