Lloyd E. Schnelle; 76, of W1525 Orchard Road, Cleveland, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee.
Lloyd was born Dec. 8, 1924, a son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Gries) Schnelle. He attended Harrison School in the Town of Rhine and was a 1943 graduate of Kiel High School. Lloyd Schnelle and Mary Ellen Lorfeld were united in marriage on May 31, 1952 at St. James United Church of Christ in Spring Valley.
They farmed together In the Town of Schleswig for 13 years. They then moved to the current family farm located in the Town of Mosel where they also operated an apple orchard. Lloyd was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ where he served on the consistory. He also served on the ASC Agricultural Committee.
He had a love for horses and was an avid dart player, participating at various churches and at the Howards Grove Senior Citizens Center.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Lloyd Schnelle is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen of Cleveland and six children of which he was the proud father. His children include five sons, Gerald (Doris) and Jack (Wendy) all of Cleveland, Joel (Christine) and Jay (Dawn) all of Howards Grove, and Gene (Sarah) Schnelle of Sheboygan; one daughter, Julie (Jon) Herrmann of Cleveland.
Lloyd has loving memories of sharing farm life with his 11 grandchildren; Travis, Jennifer, Amber, Steven, Stacy, Andy, Amy, Alissa, Laura and Lindsay Schnelle and Abby Herrmann.
He is further survived by one brother, Eugene (Ruth) Schnelle of Sheboygan and one sister, Donna (Charles) Lustig of New Berlin.
A funeral service will be held for Lloyd Schnelle at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001 at St. Mark's United Church of Christ, W1307 Orchard Road in Cleveland, with the Rev. William Kesting, pastor, officiating. Internment will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
