INEZ BOULDIN GILLIAM
Mrs. Inez Bouldin Gilliam, a lifelong resident of Coahoma County and widow of L.A. Gilliam, prominent Clarksdale merchant and civic leader, died at 6:30 a.m., Today at the Medical Center. Mrs. Gilliam, who was 86, had been critically ill for several weeks.
Services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richard W. Clark, rector. officiating. Burial will be at the Grange Cemetery. McNeil Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Gilliam was born in Friars Point, daughter of Marshall Jones Bouldin and Helen Alcorn Bouldin. The Alcorn family settled in Coahoma County in the late 1840's; and Mrs. Gilliam's grandfather, George Randolph Alcorn, was a first cousin of Eliza Jane Alcorn, who married John Clark, the founder of Clarksdale.
Her father M.J. Bouldin, Sr., was a landowner, political leader and founder and former Board Chairman of Delta Wholesale Hardware, Inc.
Mrs. Gilliam was a graduate of Virginia College at Roanoke, VA.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. George's Episcopal Church and a former president of the Women of the Church.
Mrs. Gilliam is survived by a son, L.A. "Alex" Gilliam, Jr., Executive Vice-President of Coahoma Bank; two daughters, Jrs. Murray Rasberry of Helena, AR, and Mrs. Inez Gilliam Lundy of Clarksdale; four grandchildren, Mrs. William Benton and Mrs. Henry Jordan of Helena; Thomas Alex Lundy and Jefferson Bouldin Lundy, both of Clarksdale; and five great-grandchildren.
