A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 29, for lifelong Tracy resident Angel "Sam" Cuellar, 78, who died Wednesday, March 23, at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1932.
Mr. Cuellar served in the U.S. Army and with the National Guard and worked as a supervisor at Tracy Defense Depot. He was a member of the Tracy American Legion, a founding member of the Tracy Latin Athletic Club and a past member and officer of the Mexican American Baseball League.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Tina Cuellar of Tracy; children, Sal Cuellar, and his wife, Rhonda, of Kentucky, Selina Shingu, and her husband, Mike, of Tracy, Joe Guillen of Modesto, Julio Guillen of San Jose, Maria Martinez, and her husband, Saul, of Modesto and Angelica Cuellar of Tracy; siblings, Frances Zaragoza, Helen Aguirre and Joe Cuellar, all of Manteca, and Luis Cuellar and Dolores Sanabria, both of Stockton; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two goddaughters.
Tuesday's Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., followed by burial in Tracy Cemetery, 600 E. Schulte Road.
