Ralph Tanenbaum, 87, of Alpharetta, GA, formerly of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, September 5, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Born August 3, 1921, in Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late Harry and Pearl Levy Tanenbaum. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, he attended Wofford College and was the former owner of Tanny's in Spartanburg. He is a member of Temple B'nai Israel of Spartanburg where he was a former officer of the Temple Board and a member of B'nai Brith. He was a U.S. Army Veteran (Sgt) of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Selma Anderson Tanenbaum; two sons, Dr. Marc Tanenbaum and his wife Shelley of Atlanta, GA, and Jak Tanenbaum and his wife Lynden of Portland, OR; a daughter, Lee Tanenbaum of Roswell, GA; three grandsons, Daniel Magid of Durham, NC, Oren Magid of Washington, D.C., and Roman Jakien of Portland, OR; five granddaughters, Jamie Wiegmann of Roswell, GA, Sara Erickson of Acworth, GA, Alisa Stoughton of Charlottesville, VA, Jessica Tanenbaum of New York City, NY, and Kasey Jakien of Portland, OR; and seven great-grandchildren, Eliana, Makana, Jayden, and Leland Erickson of Acworth, GA, Sydney Magid of Durham, NC, and Aidan and Lorelei Stoughton of Charlottesville, VA. He was predeceased by a brother, Joel Tanenbaum; and a sister, Thelma Yoffe.
