We had been told that he was in an unmarked grave in the Nash Cem. & we knew his wife Nancy Artimus Hull Tompkins was in the Fellowship Church Cem. We wondered why they were in different cemeteies. Our informant said that the weather was so bad when Nancy died that they couldn't get the body to the Nash Cem. I came across a note in a family tree on the ancestry.com site saying that Wanda Hatfield had said that James was buried in Pickett Co. Needless to say this caused me some concern, because I had placed him in Nash Cem. on the Find A Grave site. This is why I wanted to meet Wanda and research this. I had seen a lot of the research work she had given to my wife Cheryl's grand parents and I knew it was good, so I figured she had a reason for saying he was buried in Pickett Co. It seems she was well aquainted with James A.Tompkins's daughter in law "Leva". Ridley's wife. Leva said that Nancy was a widow when she came to this county from Pickett. James had been buried in the low lands of what was to become Dale Hollow Lake. She said that Ridley and others had tried to locate his grave so they could move him before the waters were backed up from the dam. He was never found and is still in an unmarked grave in the bottom of Dale Hollow Lake. I hate that I had most likely posted the wrong info. on find a grave, but I thought it would be even worse to leave it that way, so I am reposting on this site. I have removed James Anderson Tompkins from the Nash Cemetery.
James and Nancy Artimus Hull had the following children;
LUCINDA BELLE, MARY ETTA, ELSWORTH, LOLA V.,
WILLIAM RIDLEY, ANDERSON ROSCO
