Sudden Death Of Mrs. C. Southwick
Died from heart failure at her home near Artesian South Dakota--Well Known here.
Word came from Huxley last Friday saying that a message had come from Artesian, South Dakota, "telling of the sudden death of Mrs. Clarence Southwick, better rememberd by our people as Miss Mattie Tesdell, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Tesdell of west of Huxley. The sad message gave no details, only that she had been sick a few days and that she had passed away, the victim of heart failure. The remains were prepared for burial and reached Huxley last Saturday, Funeral took place last Monday from the home of her childhood days, west of Huxley, and the Palestine church. Rev Bueland, officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. There was a large attendance at the last sad rites.
Deceased at one time was a student of the local high school and was very well and favorably known in Slater and vicinity and the news of her unexpected death came as a shock to her many Slater friends, all of whom will remember as an exceptionally fine girl with a most beautiful disposition. Following her marriage to Mr. Clarence Southwick of near Cambridge, they moved north, taking up their residence on a farm not far from Artesian, South Dakota, where they lived at the time of her death.
