Born c.1757, young Eleazer Baldwin's name appears on the D.A.R. monument near the front entrance to the church which honors those who fought for American independence during the Revolutionary War. Sadly, the teenaged soldier did not live to see the American cause triumphant, as conflict.
His grave is marked by a brown sandstone stele which features a soul effigy with scarf-like wings in its tympanum. Iit appears to be the work of William Grant, a Boston carver who re-located to New York and shortly aferwards to New Jersey during the 1740's, remaining active into the 1790's.
