His name is listed on the D.A.R. monument near the front door of the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, which honors Revolutionary War veterans interred in this churchyard. He died a year before the outbreak of the War of 1812---sometimes called the United States' "Second War of Independence"---and was buried in the northeastern quarter of the churchyard, where his grave is marked by a plain brown sandstone stele.
