Virginia Dorethea Arrington, 85 of Waynesville passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the Brian Center in Waynesville. She was born in Haywood County on June 29, 1922 to the late John Bunyan and Ora Viola Davis Arrington. She retired after 38 years of service at Dayco. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Balsam Baptist Church. She loved to have her hair fixed and go out to eat with her family. She especially loved children and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Carver, Joyce Tabor and Gladys Hill.

She is survived by two brothers, J. B. Arrington and his wife, Madge of Vancouver, WA and Hubert Arrington and his wife, Jean of Brevard; sister, Juanita and husband, Eugene Brooks of Waynesville; 13 nieces, eight nephews, many great nieces and nephews and several cousins and friends.

Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Brian Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Saunook-Plott Cemetery. Jonathan, Joseph and Patrick Massie, Stanley Arrington, Dale Smathers and Sam Roberts will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Brian Center and Virginia�s roommate, Sue Norris, for all the love and care given to Virginia.
