Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Free Methodist Church in Beaverton for Lannes G. Baird, a retired lawyer who died Friday in a Tualatin hospital. He was 78. Mr. Baird was born in Minneapolis and moved to Eugene in 1910. He was graduated with honors from the University of Oregon and was a 50-year member of the Oregon Bar Association. He served for about one year as a Texas Ranger on the border patrol and during World War II was a personnel manager at the Portland shipyards. Since 1940, he had been a Tigard resident. Survivors include his wife, Mitsuko, and a brother, David of Eugene. Interment was in Crescent Grove Cemetery. (The Oregonian, 04 Aug 1984)
