Son of Jakob Friedrich Maerklin(Märklin) and Maria Barbara Goll, born in Lustnau (near Tubingen), Schwarzaldkreis, Württemberg. Married October 12, 1842 Lustnau, Württemberg, to Christina Katherine Munz.

*Markle's trip to the United States on Redwood. It is said that a baby died on the boat and that they tossed it over board. However, it got stuck in the waves behind the boat and continued to follow the boat for a long time. This story was past down through Mary (Markle) Long's 3rd great granddaughter Jennie Rose.

Immigrated on the Ship: Redwood, from LaHavre arriving in New York on May 17, 1854, with wife & children: Christian, John and Katherine.

Name originally Markle in the US and Maerklin(Märklin) back in Germany. The name was pronounced "Mac-Klay" in german.
