Lois was the daughter of Ammon Meshach Tenney, Sr. and Anna Sariah Eagar.

Lois' father was a Mormon polygamist who, while already having two plural wives, wanted a third. That was in 1890, when the Mormon church had recently promised to forego polygamy. He was advised to marry his third wife in Mexico, where they didn't enforce laws against polygamy. He took his first two families to Mexico, where he married his third wife.

Lois and her family were in Mexico from 1890 to 1912, when they, along with other foreigners, were driven from Mexico by Mexican revolutionaries.

While Lois was living in Mexico, she met and married Peter Kimball Lemmon, Jr. on June 15, 1899 in Colonia Diaz, Chihuahua, Mexico. They had eight children together. The first five children were born in Mexico, the sixth in Columbus, New Mexico, and the last two, twins, were born in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Their children were:

Peter Kimball Lemmon, III (1900 - 1968)
Zoe Lemmon (1902 - 1969)
Golda Lemmon (1905 - 1988)
Anna Lemmon (1908 - 1997)
John Tenney Lemmon (1911 - 1978)
Sade Lemmon (1915 - 1996)
Leland Curtis Lemmon (1920 - 1939)
Lela Lemmon (1920 - 2008)

Lois died of pneumonia on November 30, 1940.
